“It would be wonderful if this is shown to be a picture of Shakespeare painted when he was actually living,” said Blake. “People so want there to be such a portrait.” – Actually I’ve always felt there was never a Shakespeare in the sense of an individual person; I’m sure the plays were re-crafted, re-written and re-edited countless times over and by other people, at that, for them to have reached such immense stature and standing.
“In some cases service families have claimed that the MoD has tried to cover up politically embarrassing information about equipment shortages, poor planning and other government negligence.” – I suspect this extends to most Defence Ministries…
